Family Sponsorship Preliminary Assessment Form
(Need Sign into your Google account)
This free form lets you share the key facts of your spouse or common-law partner sponsorship situation. A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC – R515705) reviews your answers and recommends the most suitable next step (clarification, consultation, structured assessment, or application support).
This is not an application to IRCC. It is not formal legal advice and does not guarantee eligibility or approval.
(A Google account may be required depending on the form settings.)
Who this form is for
Canadian citizens or permanent residents who want to sponsor a spouse or common-law partner
Married couples or common-law partners (generally at least 12 consecutive months of cohabitation)
Applications from inside Canada (inland) or outside Canada (outland / Family Class)
Questions about sponsor eligibility, genuine relationship evidence, processing times, open work permits linked to sponsorship, or Quebec-specific steps
Overview of the rules:
→ Spousal Sponsorship Canada
What we look at from your answers
Sponsor status and eligibility (citizen / PR, residence, possible bars)
Relationship type (marriage, common-law) and strength of evidence
Where the sponsored person lives (Canada or abroad) and likely application class
Dependent children, if any
Temporary status in Canada (visitor, study, work), if relevant
Goal: point you to a consultation, a deeper assessment, or application support
Complex files (prior refusal, weak relationship evidence, sponsor bars, Quebec) may need a paid step after this initial screen.
How it works

We receive and review your answers.

Important notes
